Somalia has officially finalized its membership in the African Continental Free Trade Area, marking its status as the fiftieth country to ratify the accord. The formal process concluded after Minister of Commerce and Industry Gamal Mohamed Hassan submitted the necessary documentation to the African Union. This action followed the successful passage of the agreement through the Somali parliament and the subsequent signature of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. By completing these internal legal procedures, Somalia gains entry into a unified market encompassing over 1.4 billion people across the continent. This integration is expected to facilitate broader trade opportunities and economic growth for the nation as it aligns with the regional trade framework.
