On the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, Representative Chel Diokno has reiterated his demand for enhanced salaries and stronger institutional assistance for educators in both public and private sectors. The lawmaker emphasized that teachers are fundamental to national development and deserve support that ensures a dignified standard of living for themselves and their families. Drawing on his background as a former law school dean, Diokno argued that the current financial strain faced by many teachers is incompatible with the goal of providing high-quality education. He stressed that recognizing the importance of the teaching profession must be accompanied by concrete actions to alleviate economic hardships and improve access to healthcare services. By addressing these systemic issues, the government can better support those responsible for shaping the future of the nation's students.
