Netflix executives have expressed optimism regarding Thailand's potential to emerge as a premier international entertainment center, drawing comparisons to South Korea's successful model. During a recent forum in Bangkok, Andrew Ure, the company's vice president of global affairs for the Asia-Pacific region, emphasized that Thailand possesses significant assets, including skilled production teams, a mature television sector, and varied filming landscapes. Furthermore, government-backed incentives are expected to draw more foreign investment into the local industry. However, the streaming giant noted that for Thai content to achieve greater global competitiveness, the nation must prioritize the strengthening of intellectual property rights and ensure broader creative freedom. Netflix has already demonstrated its commitment to the region by investing over US$200 million into Thai-produced content since 2022, signaling a long-term interest in the country's creative economy.
