The Cheenapara Heritage Gallery recently launched in Kolkata’s Tiretta Bazar, aiming to document and display the historical legacy of the city's Chinese population. The exhibition features various artifacts, including vintage restaurant menus and locally produced sauce bottles, which serve as tangible reminders of the community's past. Curator Sohini Pyne emphasized the importance of educating the broader public about these cultural narratives and the significance of these urban spaces. Meanwhile, gallery manager Chen Yao Hua noted that the initiative functions as a tribute to the ancestors who established roots in Kolkata. Tiretta Bazar remains a central location for this heritage, standing as one of the two primary historical Chinese districts within the city.
