Typographer and researcher Yu Jiwon maintains a strict boundary regarding the use of artificial intelligence in her professional practice. She limits the technology's utility exclusively to proofreading tasks, insisting that creative decision-making, problem-solving, and the conceptual development of projects must remain under human control. Yu, who serves as the director of the Institute of Typography & Culture, intends to discuss these perspectives on the future of design at the upcoming Herald Design Lounge 2026. Scheduled for October 2, the event will feature a collaborative session with Grammy-winning designer Stefan Sagmeister, where they will explore the evolving role of human judgment versus automated tools within the creative industry.
