A pharmacist in New Taipei, surnamed Chen, has been placed in incommunicado detention by the Shilin District Court. The suspect faces allegations of attempted sexual assault after reportedly spiking a university student's water with a benzodiazepine-class drug. The investigation began following a social media post by the victim's sibling, which prompted the employee to report the incident to law enforcement. While Chen admitted to adding the substance to the drink, he claimed it was intended as a joke using expired medication. Police investigations, supported by surveillance footage and laboratory analysis of the water, led to the seizure of various electronic devices and drug purchase records. Prosecutors are currently preparing charges against the suspect, including attempted aggravated sexual assault and the unauthorized administration of controlled substances.
