Nine Naga lawmakers in Manipur skipped the state assembly session on Monday to protest the unresolved killings of six community members in May. The legislators, including the state's second deputy chief minister, are demanding the removal of Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen. They allege that her husband, Thangboi Kipgen, is the primary suspect in the abduction and murder of the six individuals by Kuki militants. The bodies of the victims remain at a medical facility in Imphal as families await justice. The Naga People’s Front has stated that they will continue their boycott until the government takes decisive action against the accused. The National Investigating Agency is currently handling the probe into the incident, which occurred amidst ongoing ethnic tensions in the state. The Naga representatives have also petitioned Union Home Minister Amit Shah to expedite the arrest of those responsible for the violence.
