Russian President Vladimir Putin recently held extensive discussions with two American representatives, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. While Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov described the three-hour meeting as productive and noted that economic cooperation was discussed, there were no indications of a concrete breakthrough. Putin reiterated that Russia remains focused on its military objectives and addressing the underlying causes of the war. The U.S. envoys, acting on behalf of President Donald Trump, are scheduled to travel to Kyiv to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. Although the Kremlin ordered a temporary pause in strikes on the Ukrainian capital to ensure the safety of the negotiators, both nations maintain significantly different positions on how to achieve peace. Moscow continues to insist on territorial concessions and Ukraine's neutrality, while Kyiv remains committed to defending its sovereign land.
