Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul stated that the Parliamentary Service Act (PSA) empowers the legislative branch to improve its oversight functions. By moving away from three decades of executive control, Parliament can now operate with greater independence. This legislative shift supports the effectiveness of ten ministry-related committees, each consisting of twelve members from both government and opposition benches. These committees, which exclude ministers and deputy ministers, possess the authority under Standing Orders to call witnesses for hearings. This framework is designed to help identify administrative weaknesses and address public concerns more efficiently, ultimately contributing to the nation's overall development and prosperity.
