Datuk Rina Jainal, the State Assistant Minister of Health, Women and People’s Wellbeing, has defended the implementation of paid parking at Tawau Hospital. She argued that the initiative is a necessary measure to resolve chronic parking shortages and improve overall security for both staff and visitors. By introducing a private management system, the hospital aims to mitigate risks such as vehicle theft and accidents within the premises. During a recent event at the Tawau Prison, the minister emphasized that the proposed five-ringgit daily cap should be evaluated based on its potential to provide better facilities and order. She encouraged stakeholders to view the project as a practical solution to existing operational challenges rather than a point of contention, noting that the upgrade is intended to serve the needs of the community and medical personnel more effectively.
