Thailand is considering new draft regulations under the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act that could significantly impact how beer is marketed. The proposed rules mandate that health warnings occupy at least one-third of any promotional material, while restricting brand logos and product names to a maximum of 5% of the total space. Supapong Pruenglamphu, head of the Craft Beer Business Association, expressed concern that these measures would severely hinder communication for bars, restaurants, and craft breweries. While the current law already bans general alcohol advertising, these secondary regulations aim to further tighten the presentation of alcoholic products. A public consultation regarding these potential changes is scheduled for September 9. Officials emphasize that these proposals are currently under review and have not yet been implemented as official policy.
