Pakistani authorities have implemented a price adjustment for fuel effective September 8, raising petrol costs by Rs12.9 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs3.72 per litre. Following this update, petrol is now priced at Rs358.77 per litre, while high-speed diesel stands at Rs381.77 per litre. This decision follows a previous short-term adjustment period that occurred between September 5 and September 7. Since mid-July, the government has transitioned to a daily review process for petroleum pricing to better manage market fluctuations. This shift in policy was prompted by instability in international oil markets, largely attributed to ongoing geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran, which have created uncertainty regarding global fuel supply chains. Petroleum products remain a critical component of the national economy according to recent fiscal data.
