A 78-year-old former taxi driver, identified as Chen Jinhe, has dedicated his time to maintaining cleanliness at an open-air car park in Ang Mo Kio for the past eight years. Every day, Chen spends approximately two hours clearing fallen leaves from the area near Block 533, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5, gathering the debris into cardboard boxes. His commitment to this unpaid task began after he initially focused on tidying a senior citizens' area at a nearby void deck. Motivated by a desire to keep the surroundings neat, he expanded his efforts to the car park because the accumulation of foliage bothered him. Chen expressed that he values the autonomy of his daily routine, noting that he appreciates the lack of professional oversight and the flexibility to manage his own schedule while performing this community service.
