Russian forces conducted missile and drone strikes against airports in Kyiv and Boryspil, coinciding with planned visits by U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. President Volodymyr Zelensky characterized the aerial assaults as a direct response to potential plans for the American delegation to arrive by aircraft. Since the onset of the full-scale invasion in 2022, Ukrainian airspace has remained closed to civilian traffic. In a separate incident, a Russian ballistic missile hit the Kamet Steel plant in the Dnipro region, resulting in five fatalities and the suspension of all production activities. The operator, Metinvest, described the strike as a deliberate attempt to cripple Ukraine's industrial infrastructure, emphasizing that the facility exclusively manufactured materials for civilian use.
