Senator Francis Pangilinan has publicly challenged the suggestion that a verdict in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte could be reached by December 16. Serving as a senator-judge, Pangilinan clarified that the Senate impeachment court has not established or approved any official schedule for the proceedings. He dismissed the date mentioned by court spokesman Reginald Tongol as a personal assessment rather than a formal institutional decision. Pangilinan emphasized that the spokesman lacks the authority to speak on behalf of the court regarding trial timelines. According to the senator, the court has neither formally nor informally deliberated on a specific conclusion date. Consequently, he distanced himself from the spokesman's remarks, asserting that the timeline remains undecided by the presiding body.
