A green sea turtle, a species currently classified as endangered, was discovered in a debilitated state on the coast of Barangay Sabang in Calabanga, Camarines Sur, on the afternoon of October 2. Local residents and fishermen encountered the animal around 5:30 p.m. in the vicinity of Sitio Maligaya. The turtle exhibited a visible injury to its head when it was first located. Despite immediate attempts by community members to provide assistance and care for the distressed marine creature, it ultimately succumbed to its condition. The incident highlights the ongoing challenges regarding the protection and survival of sea turtles within the region.
