The South Korean stock market experienced a modest recovery on Friday, closing with a gain of 0.3 percent to reach 5,550.30 points. This rebound followed a sharp decline of over 3 percent during the prior session. Market participants engaged in bargain hunting, particularly targeting major semiconductor manufacturers, despite ongoing anxieties regarding the sustainability of investments within the artificial intelligence sector. Although the index initially opened with a decline of 2.36 percent, buying activity from individual investors helped stabilize the market throughout the day. Additionally, the Korean won demonstrated strength against the US dollar during the session. The trading day was characterized by volatility before the benchmark index managed to secure a slight upward movement by the closing bell.
