South Korean video game developers are refining their international expansion strategy by tailoring their presence at major global industry events. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, these firms are aligning their product showcases with specific regional preferences. At the recent Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany, which experienced record-breaking exhibition demand, Korean studios prioritized high-budget PC and console titles designed to appeal to Western audiences. Conversely, these companies are focusing on subculture and anime-inspired games when attending the Tokyo Game Show. This selective participation reflects a broader effort to capture diverse player bases by matching game genres with the cultural expectations of different markets. Major players like Krafton have already begun implementing this strategy by establishing dedicated exhibition spaces at these key international venues.
