The Communications Authority in Hong Kong has imposed a penalty of HK$120,000 on Commercial Radio Hong Kong. The fine follows the station's failure to air mandatory hourly news and weather updates on its English-language channel, AM864. Investigations revealed that these broadcast lapses occurred between May 2022 and April 2026. The station attributed the oversight to administrative mistakes and human error. Under its licensing agreement, AM864 is obligated to provide news reports every hour from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., alongside specific weather bulletins. Regulatory authorities noted that any modifications to this established schedule require prior official authorization. The Communications Authority maintains the power to levy financial sanctions against broadcasters that do not adhere to their stipulated licensing requirements.
