The National Water Supply and Drainage Board of Sri Lanka reports that while national drinking water distribution remains largely stable, specific regions are facing challenges due to rising temperatures and receding water levels. Residents in Batticaloa and Monaragala are currently subject to a daily four-hour water suspension between 11 am and 3 pm. Furthermore, low water pressure has been reported in parts of Mahiyanganaya, Bibile, and Medagama. To mitigate these difficulties, the Disaster Management Centre and local authorities are deploying water bowsers to the impacted zones. Additionally, over 60 wells have been restored in the Monaragala District to provide alternative water sources for the public. Officials have confirmed that current reservoir stocks remain adequate to meet demand despite the localized supply disruptions.
