Taiwan's manufacturing sector experienced its most significant expansion in five years during September, according to the Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research. The purchasing managers' index reached 63.4 points, climbing 0.9 points from the previous month. While the electronics and optical industry continues to drive growth, momentum in this sector has slightly moderated, with a notable decline in unfulfilled orders. Despite concerns regarding the sustainability of artificial intelligence demand, experts suggest that current market indicators remain robust without signs of a bubble. Other sectors, including electrical machinery, basic materials, and chemicals, also reported expansion. The index, which relies on surveys of supply chain executives, remains well above the 50-point threshold that separates industrial growth from contraction, signaling a period of sustained economic activity across various domestic manufacturing categories.
