The Singaporean government has officially adopted the findings of an independent committee tasked with evaluating ministerial compensation. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong confirmed that the MR4 reference annual salary will be adjusted to $1.8 million, reflecting a 3.6 percent annual growth rate since the last review in 2011. Rather than an immediate implementation, current political office holders are set to receive a one-time salary adjustment of up to 9 percent starting October 15, 2026, contingent upon individual performance metrics. Coordinating Minister for Public Services Chan Chun Sing provided the operational details regarding these changes during a parliamentary session. The establishment of this review committee was initially disclosed by the government earlier this year to ensure compensation remains aligned with established benchmarks.
