Two foreign tourists sustained severe injuries after falling during an unpermitted 150-metre cliff descent at Tad Mok Waterfall in Phetchabun province. The six-hour rescue operation has prompted a government investigation into the event organizers, who reportedly failed to secure necessary authorization from the Royal Forest Department. Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suchart Chomklin confirmed that the activity took place in a restricted zone without official approval. Consequently, local authorities have suspended all rappelling operations in the area to conduct comprehensive safety reviews. While the organizers maintain that their equipment was sound and participants were skilled, officials are gathering evidence to pursue potential legal action. The incident has intensified calls for stricter regulatory oversight regarding safety standards, emergency preparedness, and operational permits within Thailand's adventure tourism sector.
