Turkish law enforcement officials apprehended 175 suspects during a coordinated operation across Istanbul and Mugla provinces. The investigation, which involves four separate cases, centers on an alleged international fraud syndicate operating through forex and cryptocurrency platforms. Justice Minister Akin Gurlek stated that the network utilized 42 call centers managed by 28 distinct companies to target foreign nationals across Africa, East Asia, and Europe. These entities reportedly enticed victims with promises of significant financial returns, displaying fraudulent profit data on investment interfaces. When investors attempted to retrieve their capital, the perpetrators demanded further payments. Authorities conducted raids at nearly 300 locations as part of a broader effort to capture 239 identified suspects. Officials noted that many individuals associated with the firms possess connections to Israel.
