Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla announced that the student responsible for the shooting at Banga National High School in South Cotabato had documented his intentions in personal notes. Investigations revealed the perpetrator was preoccupied with violent online content and had written about his struggles with depression prior to the incident. While the assailant had premeditated the attack, authorities noted that the selection of victims was indiscriminate. The tragic event resulted in three fatalities, including the shooter and two Grade 9 students. Additionally, eight individuals sustained injuries; two remain in critical condition, while six have reached a stable state. Officials are currently analyzing the suspect’s mobile phone and other electronic equipment to further understand the motivations behind the violence.
