Turkey has introduced its Medium-Term Program for 2027-2029, designed to navigate a global economy marked by geopolitical tensions and rising protectionism. This strategic document outlines a roadmap for transforming the Turkish economy into a more productive, competitive, and resilient structure. The program anticipates a gradual increase in economic growth, projecting a rise from 3.3% in 2026 to 5% by 2029. A key focus is shifting the source of growth from consumption towards investments that enhance production capacity and productivity, aiming for a 1 percentage point contribution from total productivity. Initiatives include simplifying the business environment, offering tax incentives for manufacturing and agriculture, and attracting global talent. The plan also seeks to diversify foreign trade routes, strengthen Turkey's role in international transport corridors, and reduce the current account deficit to 1.6% by 2029. Furthermore, it aims to create 2.1 million new jobs and lower the unemployment rate below 8%.
