A new information facility dedicated to the study of Sri Lankan leopards has been established at Yala National Park. The center provides comprehensive data on the 108 leopards currently residing within the sanctuary, following seven years of extensive research by the Department of Wildlife. Visitors can access biological details, population trends, and breeding patterns of these big cats. Additionally, the hub offers insights into local folklore surrounding leopards and the conservation challenges they encounter. One unique feature allows tourists to identify individual leopards they have photographed by cross-referencing with the center's database. This initiative aims to support educational efforts for students and provide valuable resources for both domestic and international researchers interested in feline conservation.
