The Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi has introduced new regulations requiring all licensed hotel restaurants to provide healthier food selections. Establishments must now include at least one nutritious option in every menu category for adults, such as starters, main courses, sides, and desserts. Furthermore, half of all items listed on children's menus are required to adhere to specific nutritional criteria established by the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre. These compliant dishes will be marked using the SEHHI classification system. Additionally, hotels are mandated to replace standard table salt with low-sodium alternatives to promote cardiovascular health. This policy shift is supported by research involving approximately 21,000 participants, which indicated that utilizing low-sodium salt correlates with a 14 percent reduction in stroke risks.
