Turkish law enforcement officials have released 106 individuals who were taken into custody during a demonstration in Istanbul. The group had gathered near a courthouse to protest a widespread government operation targeting LGBTQ activists and organizations. According to the Progressive Lawyers Association, the released detainees included two media professionals representing BirGün and ARD television. The initial arrests occurred as part of a broader security campaign that began on Sunday, involving raids across 15 provinces. This operation targeted over 160 individuals, along with various non-governmental organizations and private businesses. While those detained at the courthouse protest have been freed, the underlying legal actions against the LGBTQ community and its supporters continue following the execution of numerous search warrants and raids on private residences and social venues.
