India's Ministry of External Affairs has officially refuted online reports suggesting that various international leaders suffered health issues following the recent BRICS Summit. The ministry's fact-checking division labeled these social media claims as malicious and false. The speculation emerged after South African President Cyril Ramaphosa canceled public appearances to recover from an illness, and Deputy President Paul Mashatile underwent a minor medical procedure. Additionally, unverified rumors circulated regarding Chinese President Xi Jinping departing the summit early for health-related reasons. The ministry issued a stern warning against the spread of such misinformation, emphasizing that the reports regarding a widespread health crisis among attendees are entirely fabricated. The summit, which included leaders from Russia and Iran, concluded without any official reports of health-related incidents involving the participants.
