During a recent diplomatic visit to Athens on October 8, Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi formally requested the extradition of individuals suspected of ties to the Gülen movement. Çiftçi met with Greek officials, including Ministers Michalis Chrysochoidis and Thanos Plevris, to discuss the matter. The Turkish minister argued that these individuals are misusing refugee status and requested accelerated legal procedures for 60 detainees currently held in Greece, some of whom are reportedly subject to INTERPOL Red Notices for criminal activities. In response, sources from the Greek Citizen Protection Ministry rejected Ankara's claims, asserting that there is no evidence of an organized Gülenist network operating within Greek borders. The diplomatic exchange highlights ongoing tensions between the two nations regarding the handling of Turkish asylum seekers accused of political affiliations by the Turkish government.
