The New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) has formally condemned the Turkish Justice and Development Party (AKP) for its recent comments regarding headscarf regulations in Azerbaijani schools. Officials from the party led by President Ilham Aliyev argued that Turkish political figures, including an adviser to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, are exploiting the issue to create discord within Turkey and the broader Muslim community. The Azerbaijani government stated that such rhetoric acts as a form of political pressure on Baku. The dispute emerged after AKP members and various Turkish media outlets criticized the exclusion of students wearing headscarves from classrooms. YAP officials urged the Turkish government to abandon what they described as a harmful strategy of manipulation, emphasizing that these actions undermine regional unity and solidarity.
