A High Court bench in Bangladesh, presided over by Justice KM Hafizul Alam, has formally denied a petition requesting authorization for sleeper buses to travel on the country's highways. The court ruled that only vehicles explicitly approved and licensed by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) are permitted to operate on these routes. This decision follows a legal challenge brought forward by the Sleeper Bus Owners Association. Representing the transport authority, Advocate Md Rafiul Islam confirmed the court's stance, emphasizing that the regulatory framework managed by the BRTA remains the sole authority for determining vehicle compliance and road safety standards for public transportation across the nation.
