State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam confirmed that approximately 7,500 Bangladeshi citizens are currently incarcerated within Saudi Arabian facilities. The government has formally requested documentation from Saudi authorities regarding the death sentences of two Bangladeshi nationals, as officials have not yet received comprehensive information concerning these cases. These statements were made as the minister arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to receive the remains of Md Shahed Ahmed, a worker who died following an assault at Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport. The victim's body was returned to his family in Dhaka on Friday morning with government support. The administration continues to monitor the status of its citizens detained abroad while seeking clarity on the legal proceedings involving the two executed individuals.
