The Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts has formally requested that Thailand return historical artifacts allegedly taken from the K’nar Temple, also known as Prasat Khana. In a recent statement, Phnom Penh urged Thai authorities to address this matter through existing bilateral channels, such as the Joint Boundary Commission, while emphasizing the importance of respecting national sovereignty. Furthermore, the Cambodian government expressed strong opposition to the ongoing presence of Thai military personnel at various border temple sites. These claims also included a denial of accusations that Cambodian forces have utilized heritage locations for strategic military operations. As the site remains in need of restoration following previous conflicts, the status of the temple and the surrounding border region continues to be a subject of contention between the two neighboring nations.
