Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has publicly admitted that the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) is currently facing a critical shortage of personnel. Operating with only 61 officers in Punjab, the agency is struggling to manage an overwhelming influx of cybercrime reports. Naqvi expressed concern over the unsustainable workload, noting that individual investigators are currently tasked with handling between 3,000 and 4,000 cases each. He emphasized that the high volume of complaints, which involve financial transactions ranging from small amounts to millions of rupees, requires urgent attention and faster resolution times. To address these challenges, the minister called for enhanced public awareness initiatives. Additionally, Naqvi confirmed that authorities have taken action against a government employee involved in cyber-related misconduct, signaling a commitment to internal accountability despite the agency's limited resources.
