The Tianwen-3 mission, China's upcoming endeavor to retrieve samples from Mars, is currently advancing according to schedule. Hou Zengqian, the lead scientist overseeing the project, confirmed that the primary goal of this exploration is to detect evidence of biological activity on the Red Planet. During the 2026 International Deep Space Exploration Conference held this Thursday, Hou noted that Mars remains the most likely candidate in our solar system for hosting extraterrestrial life. By bringing physical samples back to Earth for rigorous analysis, researchers hope to determine whether life ever existed or currently persists in the Martian environment.
