A 47-year-old Chinese citizen, Han Xiaoyang, received a S$560,000 fine following his conviction for customs duty evasion in Singapore. Han pleaded guilty to seven counts related to the fraudulent importation of 28,236 bottles of beer, which resulted in a tax loss of approximately S$60,127. Due to his inability to pay the court-imposed penalty, he is required to serve a 164-day prison sentence. The legal proceedings also accounted for 15 additional charges concerning the evasion of customs duties and Goods and Services Tax. Singapore Customs officials uncovered the illicit activity during an enforcement operation conducted in November 2025, which led to the seizure of over 35,000 bottles of untaxed beer. The court finalized the sentencing on September 4, 2026, marking the conclusion of the prosecution regarding these fraudulent declarations.
