Individuals displaced by the establishment of Shuklaphanta National Park have formally requested government intervention regarding their long-standing grievances. A delegation representing the affected families delivered a memorandum to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli via Chief District Officer Madan Koirala. The group, which has been advocating for resolution since 2001, is seeking comprehensive support, including the allocation of 10 katthas of land per household and a compensation payment of Rs 2 million. Furthermore, the committee has requested 500 cubic feet of timber to facilitate the construction of residential and livestock structures. Copies of these demands were also forwarded to the ministries responsible for home affairs, forests, and land reform. The petitioners are calling for a definitive timeline to ensure the resettlement process is finalized, citing decades of unresolved issues following their displacement.
