An Asiatic black bear named Dam Ngao, recognized as one of the oldest of his species in Thailand, passed away on October 12 at the age of 40. According to Pata Zoo, the animal's condition began to decline on October 10 when he lost the ability to stand due to an infected foot wound. His health continued to fail as he stopped eating and experienced respiratory difficulties before succumbing to his illness. Dam Ngao had resided at Pata Zoo since it opened in 1984, arriving as part of a young pair of Asiatic black bears. While other bear species housed at the facility eventually passed away due to natural causes, Dam Ngao remained a long-term resident of the zoo for four decades.
