Magnus Brunner, the European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, has emphasized the necessity of simplifying legal travel routes for Pakistani citizens. During his inaugural visit to Pakistan, Brunner highlighted that the current Schengen visa rejection rate, which nears 50%, is excessively high. He acknowledged that the European Union must address systemic challenges, such as the difficulty applicants face when attempting to secure visa appointments. Simultaneously, Brunner noted that Pakistani applicants must enhance the quality of documentation provided during the application process to reduce these high refusal rates. The commissioner underscored a mutual responsibility, suggesting that both the European bloc and Pakistani authorities need to collaborate to facilitate smoother legal migration and resolve existing administrative hurdles for genuine travelers.
