Elon Musk has reportedly invested approximately $366 million into the 2026 midterm election cycle, positioning himself as the most prominent individual donor. According to campaign finance documentation, the majority of these funds were distributed since July to support Republican efforts to maintain legislative control. Significant contributions include $158 million directed to the Senate Leadership Fund and $76 million allocated to his own America PAC, which focuses on voter mobilization. These expenditures represent a significant shift from his previous stance in May, when he suggested he would reduce political spending. Musk’s financial involvement comes amid scrutiny from Democratic lawmakers regarding his leadership at SpaceX and his role within the Department of Government Efficiency. Despite his earlier claims of limiting donations, his current spending surpasses his contributions from the previous election cycle as he seeks to influence the composition of the U.S. Congress.
