Residents in Chattogram are expressing growing alarm regarding the hygiene standards at local dining establishments. The issue gained attention following the illness of Nurul Absar, a local resident who suffered from severe diarrhea after regularly consuming meals at city restaurants. Reports indicate that some food preparation areas have been found with pests such as cockroaches and stray animals like cats, raising significant public health questions. Many individuals, including students, laborers, and visitors, depend on these eateries for their daily sustenance, making the lack of sanitation a widespread concern. Government authorities have recently initiated inspections to address these food safety violations and ensure that restaurants adhere to proper hygiene protocols to protect the health of the city's population.
