The Putrajaya Indian Civil Servants Association (Imaiyam) has formally requested that the Malaysian government grant an extra day of unrecorded leave for Hindu civil servants on November 10. Association chairman Dr. Sathiskumar K. Muthusamy explained that this adjustment is necessary because the Deepavali public holiday falls on a Sunday this year, with the following Monday designated as a replacement holiday. Consequently, the standard unrecorded leave typically granted for the festival coincides with these existing holidays, preventing staff from fully utilizing the benefit. The association is seeking a similar arrangement to the one implemented by the government in 2023, which addressed an identical scheduling conflict. By designating November 10 as an additional day of leave, the organization aims to ensure that Hindu employees can properly observe the festival without losing their entitled time off.
