The Indian men's and women's field hockey squads will wear their traditional blue jerseys during the upcoming Asian Games in Nagoya-Aichi. This decision follows significant backlash regarding the orange kits utilized during the recent World Cup held in Belgium and the Netherlands. The use of saffron-colored uniforms had sparked controversy among former players and officials due to the color's strong association with Hindu nationalist politics linked to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey confirmed the transition during a formal send-off ceremony in New Delhi, clarifying that the previous orange attire was never intended to be a permanent change for the national teams. The athletes are scheduled to compete in their standard blue colors when the continental tournament commences on September 19.
