Bahlil Lahadalia, Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition, has indicated that the nation might halt energy exports to countries perceived as disrespectful. During the inauguration of natural gas infrastructure on October 22, the minister announced plans to review existing international energy contracts. He emphasized that Indonesia expects mutual respect in its diplomatic and commercial dealings, criticizing nations that seek energy supplies while simultaneously acting in a manner he described as ill-mannered. Bahlil, who also serves as the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, encouraged foreign partners to resolve disputes through amicable dialogue. He further stated that Indonesia remains open to establishing new agreements with countries that demonstrate a commitment to respectful and mutually beneficial relations, while warning that future cooperation will be contingent upon how these nations treat Indonesia.
