The Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court has formally requested the inclusion of three additional recorded testimonies in the ongoing crimes against humanity case against former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte. In a 12-page filing, prosecutors argued that admitting these statements would streamline the judicial process by shortening direct examinations. The prosecution maintains that the evidence from witnesses P-0008, P-1164, and P-1303 is reliable and essential for establishing the contextual elements of the alleged policy to eliminate suspected criminals through lethal force. The filing emphasizes that the rights of the accused remain protected, as these witnesses will remain available for cross-examination by the defense. Duterte, currently held in The Hague, faces a trial scheduled to commence on November 30 regarding the deadly drug war campaign that resulted in thousands of fatalities.
