The International Crimes Tribunal-2 in Bangladesh has issued death sentences for seven individuals, including former Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, for crimes against humanity linked to the July mass uprising. The judicial panel, led by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury alongside Justices Md Manzurul Basid and Nur Mohammad Shahriar Kabir, delivered the ruling on Tuesday. Other convicted figures include former state minister Mohammad Ali Arafat, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, and several leaders from the now-banned Jubo League and Chhatra League organizations. All seven defendants are currently fugitives from justice. This verdict follows the recent legal prohibition placed on the political activities of the Awami League within the country.
