Kazem Jalali, Iran’s envoy to Russia, has dismissed recent comments by Donald Trump concerning potential Iranian military threats to U.S. cities. Jalali characterized these assertions as baseless electioneering, maintaining that Iran’s military strategy is strictly centered on defense and deterrence. He emphasized that Tehran has never instigated a conflict, though he noted that Iran’s missile capabilities remain a significant reality. Furthermore, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, argued that such rhetoric is designed to manipulate American public opinion by creating an artificial external enemy. Baqaei suggested that the true challenges facing the United States stem from its own domestic and foreign policy decisions rather than external threats. Both officials contended that the focus on these alleged dangers serves as a political tool to distract from broader governmental accountability issues during the ongoing U.S. election cycle.
