Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee has announced that the administration will take necessary action and implement reforms following the submission of an independent report regarding the fatal fire at Wang Fuk Court. During a press briefing, Lee emphasized that the government intends to hold relevant parties accountable once the findings are finalized. However, he declined to specify whether individual government officials would face investigations for potential misconduct. The devastating blaze, which occurred on November 26 during estate renovation work, affected seven buildings and resulted in 168 fatalities, including a firefighter. Thousands of residents were forced to evacuate their homes due to the incident. The government remains committed to reviewing the committee's report to prevent future tragedies and address systemic issues highlighted by the disaster.
